The Best Pizzeria in Town is in your Kitchen

Canadians can experience new pizzeria-style Delissio Ultimate first-hand as close to half a million free pizzas are planned for delivery to homes across the country

Toronto, ON – November 8, 2007 – Pizza night takes on a whole new meaning with the introduction of new Delissio Ultimate pizza, which truly delivers pizzeria-style pizza. And this month, families across the country will have the chance to experience this next generation of premium frozen pizza – for free!

Delissio Ultimate delivery teams will be delivering free pizzas to homes across Canada. Over the next six months, Kraft is planning to deliver close to half a million samples to Canadian homes. The first wave of sampling began in November to homes in select Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver neighborhoods. The delivery trucks will be easy to spot with Italian-inspired graphics and playing Dean Martin’s “That’s Amore.” Watch for the Delissio Ultimate truck in your neighbourhood!

“Since its introduction to the market in 1999, Delissio has consistently met pizza-lovers’ needs by offering a wide variety of choices,” says Doug Pritchard, Director of Marketing, Kraft Canada. “Now, we’re re-defining the frozen pizza category once again with Delissio Ultimate, a pizzeria-style pizza that will change pizza nights across the country from “take-out” to “take-in.”

Boasting Italian-inspired ingredients just like a favourite neighborhood pizzeria, the unique ingredients in Delissio Ultimate pizza – including a rich Italian recipe sauce made with crushed vine-ripened tomatoes, a special blend of cheeses (including mozzarella, brick and parmesean), specialty meats and julienne-cut vegetables – truly brings pizzeria-style taste home.

Turn your kitchen into your favourite pizzeria this holiday season
As the holidays approach, quick, easy meals are a must-have! From freezer to table in as little as 16 minutes, family and friends can enjoy an authentic Italian meal without added stress by including a Delissio Ultimate pizza on the menu.

Chef Ned Bell, one of Canada’s foremost culinary talents, knows all about cooking for a crowd. “My philosophy on Italian cooking is about bringing the family together to share meals,” says Bell. “Current home entertaining trends include family-style dining and big-share plates – so try serving a Delissio Ultimate pizza with an antipasto platter.”

For cooks who are really hands-on, Ned suggests spending time preparing other authentic Italian dishes such as a tomato and bocconcini salad or an updated Tiramisu instead. “There’s no need for the entire meal to be from scratch when pizzeria-style pizza is just a freezer away,” he says.

Delissio Ultimate – the ultimate pizza experience!
Delissio Ultimate pizza is available in four varieties:

  • Delissio Ultimate Deluxe – pepperoni, big slices of mushrooms and julienne strips of red onion, green and red peppers
  • Delissio Ultimate Pepperoni – big slices of pepperoni with a trio of cheeses sprinkled on top
  • Delissio Ultimate Tomato and Spinach – diced vine-ripened tomatoes and spinach
  • Delissio Ultimate Pepperoni, Mushroom and Bacon – pepperoni, apple wood-smoked bacon and big slices of mushrooms
