A Red-Letter Day for Moms! Serving Fun, Nutritious Cereal is Now as E - Z as A - B - C

Post Alpha-Bits Cereal Removes the S-U-G-A-R and Delivers on Whole Grain and Fiber

Tarrytown, NY (May 18, 2005) – Post Alpha-Bits cereal, the letter-shaped cereal that has promoted letter fun at the breakfast table for nearly 50 years, is improving its nutritional profile.

In August 2005, a reformulated Alpha-Bits will contain zero grams of sugar and three grams of fiber per serving and will replace all other varieties of the cereal. With its great toasted oat flavor, Alpha-Bits is delicious with or without milk, making it a great choice for breakfast or snack time. And with three grams of fiber per serving, Alpha-Bits provides a good source of fiber and is an excellent source of whole grains.

According to The Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005, released by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Department of Agriculture (USDA) in January 2005, children should consume whole-grain products often, and at least half of the grains should be whole grains. Alpha-Bits can contribute to the recommended daily value for fiber and is an excellent source of whole grain for children. Alpha-Bits also contains 14 essential vitamins and minerals that growing children need, including Folic Acid and Iron.

With the nutritional benefits and the easily dissolvable cereal pieces, Alpha-Bits will become a letter-perfect addition to mom's repertoire of finger foods for toddlers. The cereal will still contain cereal pieces shaped like all 26 letters in the alphabet, just as it has since 1958.

"The reformulated Alpha-Bits provides Moms of toddlers with a fun, new better-for-you option at both breakfast and snack time while offering a unique introduction to the alphabet," said Theresa Choh-Lee, brand director of Alpha-Bits cereal. "Of course, since it's an excellent source of whole grain, Alpha-Bits is a great choice for the entire family."

The reformulated Alpha-Bits will arrive on shelves in grocery and drug stores nationwide in August and will have a suggested retail price of $3.39 for a 10.25 oz. box.
