Five Finalist Groups Compete in National "Oreo & Milk Jingle" Contest for the Chance to Win $10,000, Record a Radio Commercial and Meet Randy Jackson
East Hanover, NJ (June 7, 2006) – Oreo Cookies are teaming up again this year with Randy Jackson for the "Oreo & Milk Jingle" contest – a national search for talented music groups (2-4 people) to put their own twist on the classic Oreo and Milk jingle lyrics. Five finalist group renditions were selected by a panel of experts and posted on www.oreo.com, where visitors can log on through July 20, 2006 to choose their favorite.
"This year's 'Oreo & Milk Jingle' contest is really unique because America gets to choose the winner," said Randy Jackson, who's hosting the contest for the second year running. "I'm impressed by the talent of all the finalist groups because they really brought the Oreo and Milk moment to life by putting a unique personal twist on the classic jingle lyrics."
The grand prize-winning singing group receives $10,000, the opportunity to record an Oreo radio commercial and hang out with Randy Jackson in Los Angeles in August. And, everyone who logs on to choose a rendition is automatically entered into a sweepstakes to join Randy Jackson and the winning singing group in Los Angeles later this summer.
You Can Choose The Winner
From reggae to country each finalist group brings a unique personality to the "Oreo & Milk Jingle" contest.
- Chris Allen Band: Christopher Allen (37), James Nichols (50), Harold Bolder (41) and Harold Brown (43) from Charlotte, N.C., gave the jingle a reggae twist after being inspired by a bluegrass version they heard during last year's contest.
- A Cappella Gold: This barbershop quartet—Kim Hulbert, Elizabeth Gorton, Toni McEvoy and Susan Jane Lamb—from San Diego, CA, entered a four-part harmonic rendition of the jingle.
- The Three: Alfonso Evaro Jr. (17), Roger Booker (18) and Nathan Sandidge (18) from Hendersonville, T.N., performed an acoustic version that they say reminded them of how Oreo cookies make you feel.
- Odysy: Friends and band members Rayvon Reed (24), Christopher Denker (19), Owen Brown (24) and Jesse Lee Stearn (19) used a melody from the first song they performed together to create an R&B rendition of the Oreo and Milk jingle.
- Oreo Cousins: Hailing from country music's capital in Nashville, T.N., Lindsey Hardy (21) and Joseph Humphreys (23) describe their rendition as soulful rhythm and blues with an American country twist rendition.
"Each of these finalist groups did a great job creating their renditions," said Jason Levine, senior brand manager, Kraft Foods Global, Inc. "They really personify what the Oreo and milk moment is about—friends and family coming together. We hope people will log on to www.oreo.com and choose their favorite."
