Nabisco Toasted Chips Unveils the World's Largest Beach Towel on Hermosa Beach, Calif.
Hermosa Beach, CA (June 28, 2006) - To kick off the summer season, Nabisco Toasted Chips unveiled the World's Largest Beach Towel today. The Guinness World Record™ setting beach towel officially measured 131 feet by 78 feet, breaking the previous world record set in August of 2005 in Germany which measured approximately 92 feet by 65 feet. Made from terry cloth, the Worlds Largest Beach Towel weighed more than 1,000 pounds and blanketed the sands of Hermosa Beach.
The event also celebrated the launch of the Nabisco Toasted Chips and the "No Fry Zone" promotion. The "No Fry Zone" is a destination that was created to offer consumers better-for-you chips that are tastefully toasted, not fried - available in the cracker aisle. Actor George Hamilton, the master-of-ceremonies for the event, encouraged beachgoers to join him on the world-record beach towel and take a pledge to choose toasted chips as an alternative to fried chips.
