Northfield, IL February 22, 2007 - Kraft’s most important responsibility and highest priority is consumer and product safety. We have a number of processes in place to ensure that our products meet the quality standards we have set and our consumers expect. We would not allow any product to be sold if we believed it posed a health or safety risk.

On February 18th, our external manufacturer, Carolina Culinary Foods (CCF), issued a recall for the Oscar Mayer/Louis Rich Chicken Breast Strips – Grilled, with a “Best When Used By” date of 19 APR 2007 because of a finding of Listeria monocytogenes in a single package. We immediately deployed our sales organization to implement the recall.

While we’ve had no reports of listeriosis associated with the February 18th recall and have had no other findings of Listeria in our product, our investigation has led us to conclude that we should recall all our products made at that facility as a precautionary measure.

We are taking this voluntary action to ensure the safety of our products and that of our consumers.

Effective immediately, all code dates, sizes, and flavor varieties of Oscar Mayer/Louis Rich Chicken Breast Strips and Cuts are being recalled.

The specific products are:

We ask that consumers do not consume the recalled products and call 800-308-1841 for information on refunds. No other Oscar Mayer or Louis Rich products are impacted by this recall.

We are taking a number of corrective actions to enhance and strengthen our processing controls and programs and those of our co-manufacturers, to ensure the quality and safety of our products. Our goal is zero tolerance for food safety defects and we regret having not met that high standard in this case.
