Oscar Mayer Announces the Newest Member of the Family – a Mini WIENERMOBILE -- In Celebration of Brand’s 125th Anniversary

(Madison, Wis. – March 17, 2008) –Oscar Mayer revealed the newest member of the celebrated WIENERMOBILE fleet – a Mini WIENERMOBILE. The vehicle was introduced this month to kick-off the brand’s 125th anniversary and launch new Oscar Mayer Mini Hot Dogs, a line of snack-sized hot dogs that can be prepared in under a minute – sure to be an after-school favorite.

Set to join the other six “Regular” sized WIENERMOBILES on the road this summer, the Mini WIENERMOBILE made its public debut in Times Square on March 12, where it was joined by real-life football “Giant,” defensive end Michael Strahan, who stopped by to wish Oscar Mayer a happy anniversary. New Yorkers were among the first to “relish” the opportunity to take their photo with the Mini WIENERMOBILE and Strahan, as well as taste the new Oscar Mayer Mini Hot Dogs.

Just as delicious as the “big dogs” that have been on the road for more than 70 years, the Mini WIENERMOBILE is about half the size. Created at a Santa Barbara, Calif. auto body shop that specializes in custom cars, the Mini WIENERMOBILE was built on a BMW Mini Cooper “S” chassis, the Mini WIENERMOBILE stands 15 feet long, 8 feet high and weights 3,400 lbs.

Wienermobile History
The Oscar Mayer WIENERMOBILE was first created in 1936 by Carl Mayer, nephew of Oscar Mayer, to promote Oscar Mayer’s products at grocery stores across the Midwest. While the WIENERMOBILE has gone through 10 transformations over the years, this is the very first Mini WIENERMOBILE.

Mini Wienermobile Takes to the Road
This summer the Mini WIENERMOBILE will join the WIENERMOBILE fleet as it cruises the hot dog highways of America spreading miles of smiles to those it meets. Be sure to keep your eye out for it, or check with your local retailer to see when the Mini WIENERMOBILE is stopping in your town.
